Robert O. Harder’s book, The Three Musketeers of the Army Air Forces, (see Home Page), contains an Appendix titled “The Near-Catastrophic Nagasaki Mission,” the untold story of what really happened during the second atomic bomb attack on August 9, 1945. Subsequent to the publication of the book, Harder was contacted by an independent producer, Mark Natola. Largely influenced by the story, he had decided to make a documentary on the subject and wanted to interview Harder and several others in an on screen role. The documentary has now been posted on YouTube (below).
Titled “The Secret Story of the Last Bomb”, the 8-page color booklet (below) gives a synopsis of the film, its background, images of some of the Nagasaki flyers, summaries of what happened, and other supporting information. The documentary itself runs 1 hour and 32 minutes.
